During the '50s when dining out meant Chinese food or steak and lobster, these culinary cultures were cleverly combined in one kitchen. House of Chan is one of a kind and has maintained its popularity all these years. A large bar greets the diner, and comfortable red leather booths line the wall. The center of the room has long tables that can accommodate up to 10. Another room with round tables is available for private parties of up to 45. Décor in both rooms is Chinese, with interesting lantern fixtures. All steaks are USDA Prime and the finest lobster, from our live tank, is from the East coast of Canada. The high quality Cantonese and Szechuan food leads many of our customers to mix, match and share. Back ribs and Butterfly shrimp for starters, while chicken Chow Mein and fried rice with steak or lobster are popular examples. Pick-up and delivery is available. Gift certificates are available and our raw steaks, ribs and chops can be purchased for your cottage and B.B.Q. needs.
I absolutely love this place! Although the atmosphere of this restaurant is rather dark, gloomy, and sketchy, they have one of the best steaks and lobster in town. Usually we order bbq ribs and potato fries for appetizers. These appetizers are usually mediocre. As for the entree we always order the rib eye steak as well as 2lb-4lb lobster. The rib eye steak at House of chan is one of the best steaks I have ever had. The steak at House of Chan melts in your mouth as you eat it. This type of steak should only be eaten if you enjoy the natural taste of steak, and are expecting no additional added flavours. The lobster is usually just as good as the steak. They offer you a rich butter as a dip. I really enjoy this dish as well. Read more

On a long street with bountiful options for where to eat, I could see how this place might get passed by. When we entered it was not very busy but the atmosphere was very welcoming. We were there for a Sunday lunch so we all ordered coffee to start, they have a decent cafe au lait. The menu had a great variety with excellent prices! All of the entree salads were only $8. After ordering, we waited a really long time for our food, especially since it wasn't busy at all. However, when the food came out it was all divine! The pizza's were very large for one person and the crust was excellent. Omelette's and eggs benedicts were enjoyable as well. A neat thing about this place is that you have the option of half fries, half salad for your side with any entree. Overall, a good experience with decent prices but if you are in a rush I would suggest you go elsewhere because the service was very leisurely. Read more
Blend of Afro-American/Afro-Caribbean inspired dishes with a modern twist
(Harlem on Queen) After a weekend of dining at pretentious good-for-nothing restaurants (re: Spice Route) we decided to settle for Harlem, my bf's idea as the location of this place is easy to miss with so many other eateries surrounding it. We had the brunch/lunch menu. The waitresses were very attentive. Served right away. Food was quite tasty, although the only negative part about it was that it came out a lukewarm. The catfish lafyette was delicious! Yam and yukon hash was good, but would've been better if served hot, as potatoes tend to get rubbery when it gets cold. The ribs were not bad either. There was a lot of food on the menu that I wanted to try today, so I'll definitely go back , maybe during dinner the next time. Read more
This sports-themed downtown restaurant is home to Wayne Gretzky's personal collection of memorabilia collected by his friends and family throughout his career.
