The service was slow and the portions were small. I was disappointed in the blandness of the salmon. If I had been paying for it, I would have been annoyed. If I go back, it will be someone else's idea and their money. Read more
Pulp Kitchen has been operating a juice bar in the east end since 2001 - but recently, the Queen Street East fixture has shifted to a new location, on the other side of Broadview Avenue, with a 22 seat sit-down restaurant. New owner Alexandro Francisco de Oliveira is making his mark with the new site after he purchased the juice bar a year ago. He had come to Canada from Brazil in 2012, initially to study English, but soon decided to open a business. After saving enough to do so with work as a personal trainer, he spoke with the owners of Pulp Kitchen and took the opportunity to check out the business by working for a time as an assistant manager. Fresh from the bright lights of Miami (where the concept originated and another location is set to open in the fall), Cibo glows as spacious, upscale resto with lots to offer its King West clientele. This includes an extensive wine selection, plate-exceeding pizza pies and a warm nest of house-baked bread to start the adventure. Wine bar it might be, but Cibo is a spectacular choice for lovers of traditional Italian fare. Think polenta fries, a selection of salumeria and a stracciatella soup to set your engines racing. Many of the pastas are made on the premises here, and you can see them in their nascent glory at the pasta bar.
