HEDGE is a 55+ apartment complex that reconsiders the typically modest seniors' housing typology as an opportunity for architectural richness. The four-storey project consists of 48 apartments distributed between two buildings that together frame and preserve a mature stand of cottonwoods. The building's circulation scheme and the landscape intertwine so that experiencing the well-treed courtyard becomes an integral part of everyday life.Starting from the ground floor and continuing upwards to the roof terrace, a gently sloping promenade moves from interior to exterior and back again, forming a continuous walkway that weaves the buildings together and bridges the half storey height differential separating them. The boardwalk serves a pragmatic role by providing access to common exit stairs for both buildings, and also offers a recreational amenity for residents - a means to take a daily stroll through the trees. The building is clad in corrugated corten steel, with added depth provided by a mesh screen that spans vertically between eight inch deep flashing angles, creating space where planters can be placed.
The Canadian Federation of Students was formed in 1981 to provide students with an effective and united voice, provincially and nationally. At the time, it was recognized that for students to be truly effective in representing their collective interests to the government, it was vital to unite under one banner. Now with over 600,000 members, represented by more than 80 students' unions, the Canadian Federation of Students is the voice of post-secondary students in Canada. There are 5 member locals in Manitoba uniting over 42,000 full- and part-time students.Universities and colleges are funded primarily by the federal government and administered exclusively by the provincial government. As such, government policies and priorities determine the quality and accessibility of post-secondary education in Canada.Tuition fee levels, students financial assistance programs and funding for research are all set directly or indirectly by both levels of government. It is vital that students collectively organise at the provincial and national levels to ensure students' rights and concerns are fully represented.STRENGTH IN NUMBERSNo individual students' union, no matter how big or active, has the resources or political clout on their own to effectively influence post-secondary education policies

CPAWS Manitoba ensures that the voice of conservation is heard on issues affecting our parks and wilderness areas.CPAWS as a national organizationSince we were founded in 1963, we have helped protect over 40 million hectares of Canada's most treasured wild places. CPAWS' structure is unique among national conservation groups: we are chapter-driven, yet nationally focused. Our regional strength and volunteer spirit is unparalleled: 13 chapters, hundreds of dedicated volunteers, and 15,000 active members across Canada. CPAWS focuses on establishing new parks and making sure the needs of nature come first in their management. These are ongoing activities. Wilderness areas, and the wildlife populations they support, need to be conserved and protected. We must ensure that wilderness areas and the links between them are adequate to maintain breeding populations of all the living things that are dependent on them

Community acupuncture provides high quality acupuncture and herbal medicine treatments at affordable prices. On your first visit to Straight to the Point Community Acupuncture, you will be asked to fill out our paperwork. Upon completion of this, you will be shown into the community treatment room where you will choose a recliner and sit down. We will have a quiet chat with you about your health and come up with a treatment plan. After you recline back and get settled, we place the needles in your arms, legs, head and/or abdomen and then leave you to rest. We can now take care of another patient while the needles do their work. We treat between 6 and 8 patients per hour this way.Because we are able to treat more than one patient at a time, we can lower our prices per treatment. Our price for treatment is $25 including GST.By making treatments affordable, our patients can budget to come in more frequently, thus getting better results from their treatments. In Chin,a acupuncture is given either every day or every other day.
