As early as 1942, a few far-sighted owners recognized the need for an organization whose main purpose would be to improve general conditions in the bowling industry and founded the Vancouver Bowling Alley Operators' Association. In 1954, a B.C. Bowling Alley Operators' Association was formed and, in 1959, was to become the present Bowling Proprietors' Association of B.C. Finally, in 1961, a full-time administrator was hired and an office was opened.

The founders of Hope International Development Agency are Christian people. Our organization is supported by a broad spectrum of caring people and we are not affiliated with any denomination and remain true to our roots in compassionate Christianity.Donations to our work come in many forms, such as volunteering time, providing free expertise, equipment, medicine, shipping costs, and donations of funds. Donations are shared amongst our work in Africa, Asia and the Americas.

The Family Support Institute (FSI) is a provincial non-profit charitable society registered in 1985. FSI supports approximately 10,000 families who have a family member with a disability each year. This support stems mainly from our large volunteer network of Resource Parents (RP's) who offer to support other families faced with similar circumstances.
