Named after the family's ancestral home in Scotland, Dalnavert is one of Western Canada's finest examples of Queen Anne Revival Architecture and has been designated a National and Provincial Historic Site. Designed to embody Victorian values, Dalnavert also incorporated the cutting-edge technology of 1895, including central heat, indoor plumbing, a telephone and electric lights. Continuing that theme, the new 5,000 square foot Visitors' Centre is a "green building" utilizing features such as geothermal heat, recycled/reclaimed materials and straw board construction.
