Bert Scharfstein acquired Canadian Footwear Ltd. in 1932. The Winnipeg-based company has since gone through many changes - as a wholesaler from the 30s through the 50s, as a footwear discounter from the late 50s, and competing with the big box retailers through the 70s until the late 80s when Bert and his wife died nine days apart. That was when the most dramatic changes began. Bert's son Brian and his partner Pam Cipryk bought the business from the estate, but they faced a big challenge. Buying the company was the easy part. Finding the right direction for future success was more daunting. After months of analyzing Canadian Footwear, Brian experienced minor health problems. He saw a specialist who put arch supports - orthotics - in his shoes to ease some pain in his knees. That was when the light bulb went off in his head - offer additional services to better fill customers' needs.

Since 1988,we've lived, ate and breathed truck equipment. From humble beginnings to our new 17,000 square foot building addition in Surrey, BC, we are proud to be Western Canada's choice for heavy-duty truck equipment. As a family,we've gotten a lot bigger in a short period of time. From cranes, plows and hooklifts,we've managed to expand our expertise even further in establishing ourselves as a 'one-stop-shop' for any client need. Our expansion started in 2005, when we decided to look beyond truck equipment and towards the rail industry. This spawned our sister-company, Falcon Shuttle Rail Inc (FSR).Operating out of our home-base, FSR quickly expanded its reach nationally with representatives in Eastern Canada - quickly establishing itself as an industry innovator and leader in Canada. Two years later marked our very own expansion period; this was kicked-off by our first expansion to Prince George - an industrial hub in Northern BC. It is here that we do a lot of servicing for some of our larger northern-based clients, and it has also allowed us to extend our presence throughout our home province. While all this was going on, we managed to add a 17,000 square foot addition to our head office in Surrey.
Waverley Church was established through the vision of two congregations, Portage Avenue Baptist Church and Richmond West Baptist Church, who had a vision to make a difference in the life of people living in southwest Winnipeg.Waverley opened the doors of its building on September 23, 1984. At the time the church building was surrounded by fields, with housing developments being only a dream sketched out on paper. The members of the new congregation didn't see empty fields, though; they saw the potential to touch thousands of families by meeting their needs and sharing the hope that is found in a relationship with God.
