CrossFit begins with a belief in fitness. The aim of CrossFit is to forge a broad, general and inclusive fitness. After looking at all sport and physical tasks collectively, we asked what physical skills and adaptations would most universally lend themselves to performance advantage. I ride to see what's down an unknown street, to hear the cacophony of frogs in March, and to smell the food being prepared in different neighborhoods, all while picking up some vegetables for dinner. When the season is right, I'll stop to pick berries or mushrooms. I slow down to browse random yard sales. I ride faster just because it's fun. In many ways, I ride for the same reasons as when I was a kid. I'm riding for the experience of riding, for nothing and everything at once.
