Our Emergent Curriculum is a child initiated, teacher facilitated program that offers play based learning which reflects the interests and needs of the children in our care. Our role as educators is to document, observe, and engage children in projects both short and long term, as well as daily learning experiences. These experiences and projects help develop children's social, emotional, communication, language, literacy, cognitive and physical skills. We use a tool titled 'The Continuum of Development' (located in the ELECT document), to derive our goals for the children; and as a result we are able to focus on the children's individual skills, as well as goals for the classroom as a whole.
