Tartaruga Design was founded in 1994 by Italian-born sculptor Luca Savazzi. Luca has over twenty years experience sculpting in bronze, stone, wood and clay, and he travels extensively to study the architectural and sculptural styles represented so authentically in Tartaruga's catalogue. It was on an early trip to Italy that Luca discovered the 400-year old practice of hand-cast stone, called Scagliola. Tartaruga's artisans and technicians have perfected this time-honoured process, and they've advanced it through the use of state-of-the-art technology and enhanced materials for increased durability and beauty.
