AnnouncementsPlease note the changes below as of Friday August 29Welcome to the 2014-15 school year. I am posting two updates for you- one about our staff and one about construction.1. If you've been by the school you will know that the addition is not complete. The renovation for the kindergarten classrooms is done. We expect the renovation to be move-in ready in early October. In the meantime:the grade 4/5 French Immersion class will be taught in the computer labthe 5/6 French Immersion class will be in the basement.The before and after school daycare for the older children will continue to be in the basement.Aline Deschenes' grade 4 and Mme. Addis' grade 2/3 classes will remain in the portables until the new rooms are ready.We will continue to modify our entrances and exits as well as yard access as we did in June.2. We have a number of teachers on leave next year and most of the replacements are in place. A complete list of all staff will be posted in the first newsletter. UFCW Local 832 was founded in 1938, and it had grown to about 700 members by 1964 when Bernard Christophe was elected president. By the time he stepped down as president in September 2002, the membership of the Local had grown to over 15,000. Today the membership sits at over 20,000 and continues to grow under the leadership of the current president, Jeff Traeger.
The Village of Binscarth is situated along the Yellowhead Highway (Hwy16), about 12km, from the Saskatchewan border. Gigantic spruce trees enhance this small village, located in the heart of an agriculture district. Two large terminal elevators are on the north and south side of town creating a picturesque view.The village supports churches, a library, a nine hole golf course, large museum, K - 8 school, skating and curling rinks, drop in center, large community center & theatre, two seniors housing facilities, a recycling program and several businesses. There are also a variety of clubs, lodges and other organized committees within the village.Summer activities expand to our Park & Pool, located 2 kms south of the village in the Silver Creek Valley. The largest outdoor pool along Hwy 16 is located in this scenic park, which also has an interesting hiking trail, 38 serviced sites, modern concession and washrooms, horseshoe pits, mini golf and beach volleyball.Several of the community homes date back to the early 1900's with many modern ones intermixed.
