The first store was on Sparks Street in Ottawa followed shortly by Billings Bridge and Carlingwood. Davis Agency was originally a magazine subscription business. The company added several major product lines over the years including record albums, greeting cards, jewelry, floral products, fine pens and small leather goods. Magazine subscriptions are no longer in the product line but all of the other items, in one form or another are still offered. Most of the stores traded under the name The Davis Agency until the late 90s and early 2000s when the stores were rebranded to Hallmark stores.

Manotick Tree Movers Inc. began as a registered partnership in 1991 (incorporated in 1996) by Ralph Sikkema and Fred Stevens. In 2011 Ken Stevens, Fred’s son, bought Ralph’s shares. Ken and Fred now run the business but Ralph remains a very valuable manager. Our management team currently combine to offer over 60 years of hands-on experience in the tree care industry. Our tree spades sizes 38" through 90" are capable of digging and relocating trees up to 9" caliper size, including evergreens up to 600 cm (20 feet) tall. We have always taken much pride in personally selecting and sourcing the finest quality seedlings and liners to grow and develop at our 55 acre farm at Carsonby. This allows us to offer a wide selection of the finest locally grown trees already proven hardy for our severe Ottawa valley winters.
