Harper's Garden Centre began, in 1948, as a small farm owned by it's founders, Bruce and Ruth Harper, after Bruce returned from World War II. As their family grew so did the farm. From animals and produce, to a small seasonal garden centre. Harper's Garden Centre quickly became known for excellence in quality gardening products and services. Their children eventually took over and ran the garden centre for 40 years. In 2016 they retired and Harper's Garden Centre was purchased by another family with the same commitment to quality and customer service as always. 2018 is a very special milestone for Harper's marking our 70th year in operation! Things sure have changed in retail for independent garden centres, but our commitment to QUALITY, SERVICE & SELECTION has not wavered from our 1948 beginning.

Today, we have largely expanded our products to include over 20 varieties of apples, strawberries, raspberries, plums, pears, sweet corn, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, pumpkins, squash, gourds and flowers. As well, we bring in a wide variety of produce from local growers to provide you a one stop shop for fresh, local produce.

Celebrating 175 years of church services in Troy 1835 - 2010by Elizabeth Nowell.As you travel east from St. George on Highweay 5 through the hilly countryside around the village of Troy, you will pass the back of Mount Carmel United Church erected 137 years ago in 1873.If you veer off to the south to the old Troy Road, you can see the front of the church - a large white brick edifice with red brick trim in an Italianate styles. The high wooden spires were recently covered with copper sheeting. Try to imagine the building of this church long before Highway 5 was constructed in 1930 and had bypassed the village.

Eventually,most of the land would be stripped from them andthey would be reduced to present 46,000 acres.Recognized as 'Six Nations Reserve No. 40'.
