This place was fantastic. We booked a last minute room on a long weekend and they were very accommodating. Had a room with two double beds. Beds (and pillows especially!) were super comfy. The rooms all exit to the outside, and the area is nice and quiet. They have nice televisions with 60 odd channels, they give towels and soaps in the bathroom, and have a mini fridge, coffee maker and cups for your use. In the mornings in the main building they have a small but very satisfying breakfast with cereals, croissants, muffins, fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea, etc. If the weather is appropriate they even have an outdoor pool for guests to use. Everything in the room was clean and tidy, and it's not that far from downtown Kingston (just a quick drive into town). We got such a good value for the money you pay, we were very impressed. When we come back to Kingston we will always be staying here.Read more

In 1967, Sandy MacLachlan created the Woodworking Museum as a Centennial Project. To house the collection, he dismantled an 1855 log house, originally built by the White family in Lanark County, and moved it to Princess Street in Kingston, Ontario. There it operated as a privately?owned museum for over a decade. In the early eighties, it was bought by the former Pittsburgh Township and once again, the log house was moved to its present location at Grass Creek Park. With the amalgamation of the City of Kingston in 1998, the museum became the responsibility of the Culture and Recreation Division in the Corporation of the City of Kingston. The MacLachlan Woodworking Museum holds the most extensive, nationally significant collection of woodworking tools in Canada.

Alexwe're working on a fun science project at Wintergreen Studios this summer. In the interest of tallying and identifying all the species of plants on our land, we're constructing a herbarium. A herbarium is essentially a library of plants, a vast collection that catalogs the species composition in our surrounding area. When a plant is picked, it needs to be dried out and then mounted on a rigid piece of cardboard for display. Each entry is a single plant along with particular attributes:the plant itself, identified with its family, genus, and speciesthe precise (GPS) location where the plant was founda short description of the habitat where the plant was foundthe name of the person who collected the plant and the name of the identifierthe plant's cataloging numberthe date on which the plant was pickedthe name of the institution where the plant is storedWhen picking a plant, it is important to have all of its parts.
