North York Hearts Soccer Club was formed in January 1990, through the amalgamation of Armourdale and Willowdale Blues Soccer Clubs. Our history of providing soccer for the central North York community began in the winter of 62/63, with the founding of the Fisherville, Lansing Lancers and Northmount Monarchs Soccer Clubs. Fisherville later changed its name to Armourdale. The Armourdale and Willowdale Blues Clubs enjoyed a decade of success through the 1970's. However, during the 80's, the Clubs began to find themselves 'rebuilding' year after year. Individual teams continued to deliver outstanding performances ( including Ontario and tournament winners); but a number of factors combined to create problems off the field. The two Clubs both suffered periods of mismanagement ; good volunteer staff became much more difficult to find; a huge population shift took place north of Steeles Avenue; and changes in the political environment in North York, made the survival of small clubs into the 1990's, very doubtful
