ORHTO-K was first used in the 1980's, and the first FDA approval of overnight contact lens wear for temporary reduction of nearsightedness was granted in 2002. In young patients with changing eyes and vision, ORTHO-K can be a valuable tool to slow the progression of nearsightedness.
