OUR HISTORY Trail Side Sports Ltd. began in June of 1995. The dealership started as a full-line Yamaha, STIHL power equipment, and Naden Boats dealer. Kevin and Clare Muncaster renovated the old Canadian Tire warehoue on McCulloch Drive in Espanola to make way for the store. In the early days, it was hard to fill the showroom. With Gary Leclair as parts/service manager and Toby Swan as technician, they were off to the races, so to speak. What began as basically a snowmobile dealership evolved into a thriving marine and ATV retail enterprise. Proud of its background in retail and customer service, Trail Side has excelled in what is a difficult market. Customers travel from all over Ontario, and Trail Side delivers to many far-off destinations. There are boats for customers in Kenora, Fort Albany, Bobcaygeon, Burlington, Florida and Northern Quebec. Tourist outfitters from Wawa, Nakina, Hornpayne, Manitoulin Island, the North Shore, and as far east as Lake Nipissing are enjoying the services provided. In 2001, Suzuki was added to the lineup, including ATV's, outboards, and motorcycles. This brought another dimension to the showroom, giving a wider selection and capturing a whole new group of customers. In 2002, Crestliner boats were added. Trail Side has become a destination for the powersport enthusiast. Customer satisfaction is the key to success, and at Trail Side, success is measured by you, the customer.
In the 1960s, children with special needs in Northern Ontario had nowhere to go once they reached school age. There were very few support groups for these families. In 1963, an association in the Kirkland Lake area was founded and word spread to families in the Espanola area, encouraging them to begin working together for their own children. These families, with nothing more in common than the love and compassion for their special children, were driven by the possibility that there was more to offer their loved ones.
