Manor Road Co-operative Nursery School was established by the Junior League in 1935 as an outdoor play group for children. In 1937, the operation of the school was taken over by the parents, and it became the first co-operative nursery school in Canada. It has continued as the oldest co-operative nursery school at the same location, in the Church of the Transfiguration, located at Manor Road and Redpath Avenue. The school has always been non-profit, self-supporting and non-denominational.
ABC Academy About Us abc Academy first opened its doors at 18 Melrose on March 5, 2007. The centre was founded by Wendy Arnold List, a mum and businesswoman who built abc to have the optimal place to help care for her children. She wanted to create a beautiful facility with nurturing staff and programming focusing on a healthy lifestyle and Kindergarten readiness – but most importantly, she wanted her kids to love it. abc has since expanded to the neighbouring house at 20 Melrose in 2009 and to Davisville Village at 1432 Bayview in September 2011. It continues to offer a warm, nurturing, educational and fun environment for little ones giving parents great peace of mind and kids a great start to school. We are excited to be expanding into the Beach at 1923 Queen St. E. opening September 2013 and to Leaside at 235 McRae Dr. opening September 2014.
