Opening the doors in 1980 and operating as Beaver Lumber for 20 years, we felt like it was time to grow with the community. Re-Branding to Home Hardware building centre in 2000 was just what the community needed. Home hardware is locally owned and operated, with 12,000 square ft of retail space, 35 staff on site and over 80,000 products to choose from, we always have something and someone to help you make those tuff decisions. We are privileged to have recieved the Delta Optimist, Readers Choice Award for "Best Hardware Store" for the 4th consecutive time. At Home Hardware Building Centre we offer a complete range of tools, paint, plumbing and electrical supplies, building materials, along with housewares, sporting goods, automotive items and lawn and garden supplies.

This store opened recently as part of the revitalization of the area south of the Cambie Bridge. This is an interesting concept for the store that brought us the sprawling big box stores of the 'burbs that we have come to know and love. This store is on 1.5 levels on a smaller footprint and offers almost anything you can imagine for the do-it-yourself-er in an urban setting. In fact its the "almost" in the previous statement that costs this store a 5. It is true that they offer almost anything but if you want to do any larger projects involving copious amounts of lumber, landscaping stone, plants, soils and other landscaping materials you will still need to visit one of the big stores. All that aside, if you are looking for anything else this is a great store to hit, particularly given their location. My child and I particularly enjoy the monthly (every second Saturday) children's workshops where the kids get to build a fun, wood-based project. Afterward there are a myriad of options to pursue such as a walk at the sea-wall around False Creek or a hot chocolate at Starbucks. Check it out next time you're in the area and you will leave impressed!Read more
