George Ayerego, the owner of Ayerego Books on St. Clair Avenue West, considers himself a true bibliophile. “I’ve loved books ever since I’ve been a child,” says George. “When the family would give me a few presents and some books, let’s say at Christmas, I would play with the toy for a bit, then leave it and always stick with a book. I am a real bibliophile.”
The proof is in the pudding, as they say. When George opened up Ayerego Books in 1995, he started with his own personal collection, which numbered at more than 12,000 books.
