For Sébastien Lemay, computers come naturally. When he was just four years old, his father taught him how to use his first computer, and this was before the machines even had mice. To play a game, he had to insert a cassette tape into the computer and type five lines of code to load the game. Later on, he bought some books on coding and started making his own games. His family always had a computer in the house, so opening his own business in this field was perfect for him.
Since December 2002, he has been the sole proprietor of Optik Info in Montreal’s Verdun neighbourhood. He is also the store’s only employee. Walk in on any day of the week and you’ll find him immersed in his element, surrounded by computers and laptops, diligently performing installations and repairs.
“Everything is a big puzzle,” Sébastien says. “Every computer problem is a different puzzle, different solution and different cause. So it’s just a matter of finding out why and fixing it.”
