Reflecting Spirit Gallery Inc. represents over 200 individual Vancouver Island and British Columbia visual artist and crafts people. We showcase both 'established' and 'emerging' British Columbian First Nations and non-Native art.
We specialize in cedar works, primarily masks, bent wood boxes, paddles and bowls. The gallery also has cedar bark hats, basketry and jewelry. The View Gallery is a contemporary art gallery on the Nanaimo campus of Vancouver Island University, which presents all types of visual arts and designs made by students, community-members, and professional artists. A non-commercial site, the gallery presents a mixture of programming and art events that range from touring exhibitions to annual showcases of student art. The View Gallery is run and staffed by faculty members and students in the Department of Art and Design, within the Faculty of Art and Humanities.

It's been over 20 years since Lewis & Cathy George created this successful First Nations owned and operated enterprise in Tofino B.C.Lewis & Cathy spoke with some of the local Elders and came up with the name of 'Himwitsa', which is derived from the Nuu Chah Nulth language translating as 'Story Telling and the passing of knowledge from Elder to Youth'.
