Growing up in Chilliwack, I graduated from Timothy Christian School in 1983. After working for Custom Upholstery Ltd for four years, I purchased the company in 1987. In 1988, I married my wife, Debbie and settled in Chilliwack. After enjoying several years as a business owner in downtown Chilliwack, I ventured into the construction industry and started a vinyl decking company in 1995. 'Aqua Deck' grew even during the slow economic times; however, by 2004 I was ready for another challenge. I sold that business and started Denbie Homes. I enrolled with National Home Warranty and started building spec homes. Since then, I have enjoyed varied challenges including custom homes, multifamily developments and commercial projects. I continue to attend conferences to keep up to date on current trends and standards in the construction industry. The experience I have gained has been vast, not only learning basic and complex construction, but also insight into all aspects of the industry working together.

I've spent my career helping people upgrade their homes and improve their lives. You may know me from TV, where I've hosted a variety of home renovation shows, including This Old House, Bob Vila's Home Again, Bob Vila, and Restore America with Bob Vila, and of course my appearances on Tim Allen's sitcom, Home Improvement, where I got to star as myself.Before broadcasting, I ran my own home remodeling and design business. Before that I spent time building houses in Panama as a Peace Corps volunteer. I learned first hand home renovation from my father, who handbuilt our family home.
