Jamie's lifetime love of dance started at the young age of 3. Since then, she has studied at many studios throughout Southern Ontario, and worked with many talented instructors and choreographers. She is a certified teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance and also teaches jazz, tap, lyrical and hip hop. She continues to keep her qualifications up to date by participating in several teaching courses and workshops each year through the RAD.

The School of Dance, Music and Theatre was established as a project of the India Association of Winnipeg in 1980, with a mandate to promote the East Indian visual and performing arts in Manitoba. In 1983, the institution was independently incorporated as the ''INDIA SCHOOL OF DANCE, MUSIC & THEATRE INC.''. In 1986, the School acquired its own studios/offices at 567 St. Mary's Road (Winnipeg Manitoba). From a small beginning of only 25 students, the School now accommodates well over 150.
