In December 2011, a small three person board accepted responsibility for the Outdoor Adventure Kennel after Bob Fawcett's slaughter, which included 178 working dogs. The dogs had at that time, been inactive for almost 9 months and as winter was approaching, they were becoming very restless. So, in good faith that working dogs were best working, we began a dogsledding company called The Whistler Sled Dog Co. and our goal was to keep our dogs fulfilled and make money to fund other animal welfare projects.

Since 1982, the goal of WAG (Whistler Animals Galore) has been to improve the lives of animals through education, advocacy, and medical care. For over 25 years, we have been rescuing, caring for, and finding new homes for lost, homeless, and unwanted animals from Whistler to Lillooet. To date, hundreds of animals have been healed and placed into new homes with a 100% success rate, thanks to our innovative Matchmaker Program. Wide community support has been key to WAG's success. With the help of our sponsors and partners, WAG has become a leading provider of Spay and Neuter clinics, and has founded emergency care funds for rescued animals in our shelter.
