Nanaimo Art Gallery is a public art gallery committed to inspiring and challenging our community through art. Exhibitions of work by professional artists are excellent, relevant and extend out into the community through dynamic public programs. Art Lab, our dedicated space for learning, offers innovative workshops and hands-on activities for children, teens and adults. The Gallery holds a growing collection of art, connects with thousands of students through TD Artists in the Schools, and runs The Gallery Store which features a selection of high-quality, locally made artworks and objects. The View Gallery is a contemporary art gallery on the Nanaimo campus of Vancouver Island University, which presents all types of visual arts and designs made by students, community-members, and professional artists. A non-commercial site, the gallery presents a mixture of programming and art events that range from touring exhibitions to annual showcases of student art. The View Gallery is run and staffed by faculty members and students in the Department of Art and Design, within the Faculty of Art and Humanities.

After two successful years as a downtown Nanaimo art gallery and a working studio, and with three gallery shows in the Vancouver area in 2008/9, Rightside Studio is currently an online gallery of original contemporary abstract and environmental oil paintings. This artist is working at home on a new concept series, and can be contacted through the website.

The Fair originally started over 100 years ago and continues now as an annual event to advance the education of agriculture and showcase local farmers and 4-H clubs, bringing agricultural awareness to our community. As farming changes and land becomes more urban, we need to keep our farms alive, to provide top quality products and to encourage the education of the past, present and future of all areas of agriculture. Although some professionals show at Fairs, it is the children that most impress the fairgoers. Bright eyed children and animals are a winning combination. We take a step back to celebrate the simple, but important things in life.
