The rate of addiction in British Columbia has reached critical levels, creating chaos in our communities, and resulting in death across the province. In response to this epidemic, The Nanaimo Pain Clinic opened its doors in 2016 to ensure that those caught in the grips of drug dependence do not have to suffer alone. Understanding that addiction has many faces and takes many forms, The Nanaimo Pain Clinic uses an evidence based treatment model to provide medication-assisted therapy in tandem with recovery support counselling, prioritizing promptness, compassion, and respect to the core of the practice.

Opened in 1981. The Nanaimo Squash Club (NSC) began as a private business. It's primary focus was to provide Nautilus and Squash facilities for the Nanaimo area. In 1985 the ownership of the club was transferred to it's membership. An elected board of directors is charged with the management of NSC and employs a full time manager to run the day to day affairs of the club. NSC is a non-profit organization with member fees going directly to the daily operation of the club, as seen fit by the board of directors. Today the club consists of 140(off season) to 180 (peak season) members. Each member has 24 house access to the club's facilities, however NSC employs a staff to run the lounge. During the regular hours of operation of the lounge, the club is open to the general public.
