Our College's proud history over more than three decades can easily be divided into three eras.In the fall of 1965, the institution opened its doors as the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Vocational Centre, or OVC. Similar 'training schools' began in London and Ottawa.The OVCs evolved into Ontario's community colleges. In 1967 the Ontario government established a system of Colleges of Applied Arts & Technology, more often known as community colleges.

Northern Safety and Training is a locally owned truck training provider focused on practical and theoretical instruction. Founded by an experienced trades professional, the school offers AZ and DZ truck programs and hands-on modules that reinforce workplace safety and safe driving practices. Instructors combine industry experience with structured Training to prepare students for employment in the trucking sector.
