Established in 1986, Olympium Rhythmic Gymnastics Club is proud of the successes of our rhythmic gymnastic program. Under the guidance of club founder and head coach Danuta Smiechowski, we offer a wide range of classes to suit the interests of gymnasts between the ages of 3 and 16 in our recreational and competitive programs.Rhythmic gymnastics was originated in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century. The sport was developed to combine movements with music and unite the artistry of dance with athletic grace. Rhythmic gymnastics was recognized as an official competitive sport in 1962 by the International Gymnastic Federation, and made its Olympic debut at the 1984 Los Angeles Games, where Canada's Lori Fung won the very first Olympic Gold Medal in the sport. Rhythmic gymnasts perform routines using a variety of rhythmic apparatus such as the ball, rope, hoop, clubs and ribbons, which are choreographed into colourful and expressive performances

The Etobicoke Humane Society (EHS) is an independent, all-volunteer, federally registered charity serving the Greater Toronto Area since 1987.. EHS is an independent shelter. Our operations are not administered by nor funded by the OSPCA, the Toronto Humane Society, the City of Toronto Animal Services nor any other organization. EHS operations are overseen by a volunteer board of directors. Everyone involved at EHS is a volunteer, including our board of directors, shelter volunteers, office volunteers and program coordinators. EHS has no paid employees. Our services are available for cats and dogs. We moved into our new, rented facility in April 2012, allowing us to offer on-site sheltering and adoption. Off-site fostering is also used to further expand our services for special needs animals
