AboutUsPursuant to an agreement (the ?Subsidiary Agreement?) entered into on April 1, 1983 between Canad,a Manitoba and Awasis Agency of Northern Manitob,a the Agency was mandated the legal responsibility to provide child and family services to treaty and non-treaty members residing on 25 First Nations, however, with the decentralization of the Awasis Agency, the Agency provides child and family services to 12 First Nations communities.In 2000, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Province of Manitoba and Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak. The signing of the MOU meant that the Awasis Agency could expand its authority and provide services to off reserve members. These services commenced in 2005.

Community Futures Manitoba Inc. (CFM) is an association representing 16 Community Future organizations (CFs) established throughout rural and northern Manitoba. The Community Futures Manitoba Board of Directors is comprised of one representative from each of these organizations. Community Futures operates across rural and Northern Canada as a grassroots-driven program created to strengthen rural economies by enabling entrepreneurship and assisting in community economic development.There are 16 Community Futures organizations (CFs) established throughout rural and northern Manitoba. The goal of each CF is to assist the communities in their region to develop their economic potential. GRASSROOTS NEWSWe publish 20,000 copies of our paper each issue with distribution throughout the Province of Manitoba including major urban centres such as Winnipeg, Brandon, Portage la Prairie, Thompson and The Pas.Readership values are estimated at approx 80,000 per issue with key demographic representing First Nation and Metis organizations, business offices and grassroots readership (individuals) in urban and rural areas of the province. All Manitoba First Nation communities along Metis regional offices receive copies of our paper. We are well read and respected among Manitoba's Aboriginal population and have regular columns written by Grand Chief Ron Evans (AMC - Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs), David Chartrand (MMF President - Manitoba Metis Federation), Grand Chief Morris Shannacappo (SCO -Southern Chiefs Organization) among other Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal political figures.

Caroline is the Executive Director for the Diabetes Integration Project. Caroline originates from the Pine Creek First Nation in the West Region Tribal Council region. Her nursing career began at Red River Community College where she graduated in 1986 with a Licensed Practical Nursing Certificate. Caroline continued her education on a part time basis and completed the Registered Nursing Diploma in Nursing in 1988.
