GLEN EDEN was founded by Dr. F. V. Brennan in 1984 as a day treatment program that included educational instruction for children and youth with various combinations of neurological and neuropsychiatric problems, physical and mental developmental delays, extreme emotional disabilities, autistic features and learning disabilities.
A classroom teacher for 15 years, the owner Glenda Stewart-Smith, has taught a wide range of grades and subjects. She received a MET degree (Masters in Educational Technology) from UBC in 2005 and was named an Apple Distinguished Educator for Canada (ADE) in 2008. Outside the Box Learning Commons is located in the Richmond London Landing area. Our maker-space combines resources and experiences to allow students innovative learning opportunities that develop academic skills through exploration and creation. The current focus in education is on developing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) skills. Outside the Box Learning Commons adds Art to the STEM learning focus for a STEAM approach
