Harrow Co-op Children's Centre Inc was incorporated in 1984. The centre began operating as a School Age Program in one room. Throughout the years, the centre continued to expand to include kindergarten, nursery and preschool children. Presently, we are fully licensed for 46 children.Harrow Co-op Children's Centre Inc. provides a loving environment for the development of each child's cognitive, emotional, physical and social skills. We provide an environment where children can work independently. The rooms have beauty, order, reality, simplicity and accessibility. The children have the freedom to work and move around the room which allows them to act as part of a social group.Our staff are exceptional! Each staff member brings with her a special interest in children and helps assist each child develop their unique potential, both as a person and as a member of our community. The Artful Owl uses art history as its starting point for the exploration of various methods and mediums in art making.The goal of the classes is to instill visual literacy in the participants through experiential learning in art history. The classes will be geared to many learning styles; the goal is to create and enjoy the world of art.The Artful Owl will give participants the tools they need to understand their world visually and to think creatively when solving problems as the ability to think creatively is a very important skill which participants will apply throughout their lives.
CareersCheckerberry House Inc. provides child care for children ages 1-12 years at two centers in Assiniboine South. Both locations provide access to major bus routes and several schools including Tuxedo Park, Carpathi,a Brock Corydon and Laidlaw schools.Checkerberry House Inc. offers an enriching program with trained, certified and caring staff who are always available to children and parents. Our centre is bright, stimulating and well-equipped. The centre provides programming centered on children's needs in a clean and healthy environment.At our centre we strongly encourage parental involvement in the form of drop-in visits, volunteering and various fundraising and field trip activities. A monthly newsletter and bulletin board for parents is provided to supplement information from staff.A key aspect of the programming at our centre is enhancement of personal well being and health.
