Our volunteer, registered charitable organization offers instruction in Taoist Tai Chi internal arts and methods, which include taijiquan (Tai Chi) and other related internal arts. Taoist Tai Chi internal arts and methods are specifically aimed at cultivating health and vitality and were developed by Master Moy Lin-shin, a Taoist monk. Master Moy synthesised the wisdom he learned during more than 50 years of training in meditation, qigong, Tai Chi and other arts into the practices taught by the Society and its sister organisations. The Taoist Tai Chi Chi Society of Canada is a member of the International Taoist Tai Chi Society which is the largest non-profit Tai Chi organization in the world. The Society was founded in Toronto in 1970, with the first classes in British Columbia taking place in 1976. In the Pacific Region, we have now grown to include communities across the province, including the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and many parts of the interior. To find more details of the locations of classes for all ages offered in B.C. visit our Classes or our Contact Us pages. More background about Master Moy, Taoist Tai Chi internal arts and methods, their the health benefits, and our worldwide activities can be found at the international web site of the International Taoist Tai Chi Society.
Sun Hang Do's techniques are a combination of both HARD and SOFT movements. All patterns, weapons and self-defense are practiced with a focus on these two opposites, working together in harmony. Sun Hang Do teaches a positive "I can do it!" mental attitude. Students will increase energy and develop better mental control. This will improve relaxation and develop leadership skills to help focus on the tasks of today's busy lifestyle.
