As a Public Foundation, we raise money from generous Winnipeggers and spend it in ways that promote jobs and long-term development in the community.Why? Take a walk through many of our inner city neighbourhoods and you'll see a mix of situations. Bright and tidy efforts at community renewal and sturdy, long-time businesses exist side by side with some pretty big problems. You'll see empty buildings, vandalism, homelessness and racism to name a few. Tragically, there is a legacy of social decline in the inner city. It's evident to the casual observer as well as in income and employment statistics, which show growing numbers of people living in poverty and depending on social assistance.

In 1991/92 it amalgamated with the Manitoba Electrical Association (MEA) to form the Manitoba Electrical league Inc. In June 2014 the name was changed to Electrical Association of Manitoba with a tag line ''Strength in Connection''. The organizatiobn is rebranding itself and wants to be seen an association that offers stability, strength and professionalism.The Association EAM is a non-profit organization made up of electrical contractors, wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers, agents and consultants. The EAM provides a variety of services to its members including group insurance, up-to-date industry information, networking opportunities, representation to Governments, educational and training programs to help member companies and there employees to be current with industry requirements and trends.During the Leagués 2012 'Current Connections' electrical showcase, MEL General Manager Gord Macpherson was interviewed by Electrical Business Magazine to discuss the League and Showcase event.
