The North End Community Renewal Corporation (NECRC) was founded in 1998 by a coalition of Winnipeg organizations who were concerned about some of the trends in the north end of Winnipeg and who were aware of the good results that community development corporations in other parts of North American were achieving in revitalizing inner city communities. The NECRC was established to serve the community within the geographic area north of the CP tracks, south of Carruthers Ave., east of McPhillips Street and west of the Red River.The mandate of the corporation is to promote the social, economic and cultural renewal of the north end of Winnipeg. It does this by improving the quality and accessibility of housing, creating jobs, upgrading commercial and industrial areas, implementing employment development programs, improving the overall image of the community, and reducing crime in the community. The corporation provides co-ordination activities and a strategic focus for many of the community improvement activities taking place in the north end.NECRC is committed to the social, economic and cultural renewal of the North End of Winnipeg.NECRC defines its development goals through annual consultations and ongoing networking with North End residents and businesses

Our StoryIn 1995 God brought a number of people, led by David and Anita Ruis, to begin a community of faith in the core area of Winnipeg. WCV was born out of a desire to create an authentic community of followers of Jesus Christ, devoted to worshiping him with their whole lives, and extending God's justice to the poor and those who are weak.For us worshipping God is much more than singing a few songs on a Sunday morning. It is a whole lifestyle that includes offering everything that makes us human to God – our minds, bodies, emotions, spirits, cultures, as well as social and economic dimensions.Our worship of Jesus does not stop there. It demands a practical outpouring of love to those around us... especially to those on the margins of society. Our worship lacks integrity if we are not expressing our love for God through loving our neighbour. Likewise, everything we do is worthless if we are not doing it from a foundation of being loved by God, and loving him back. James, Peter and John had only one requirement for Paul and Barnabas when they were sent out on their first missionary journey... that they 'remember the poor' (Gal 2:10).

We are a multicultural church, leading people into freedom and fullfillment, by empowering them to succeed in every sphere of life, and accomplishing God's heavenly purposes here on earth. Isaiah 44:3 God's desire is to throw open the Floodgates of heaven and release His fullness on the earth. Gates in the Bible were very significant. They were the centre for spiritual, commercial, social, and political life. It was the place where decisions and judgments were made, where destinies were shaped, and people's lives changed. Our prophetic mandate is to be a gateway that releases the flood of God's abundance on the earth.
