With this reinvented Spanish eatery in Toronto’s Greektown, newly returned to its original owner and roots, Toronto gets its first and only truly authentic tapas restaurant. A revised pricing structure returns the idea of fairness to the table full of small dishes that defines this special style of Spanish food presentation. Among the tasty offerings in the reinvented menu, guests will find such classics as tortilla de gambas al ajillo, duck confit, a selection of Spanish cured meat and paella. On Thursday through Saturday, diners’ restaurant experience is enhanced flavourfully with the accompaniment of traditional Spanish flamenco dancers. The glow of comfortable tradition warms Allen's. Opened in 1987, the restaurant has achieved near-institutional status, as its bar, featuring 340 whiskies, over 100 VQA wines and 140 beers, and dining room are considered the very best of type. Customers travel from all over Canada, the U. S. and Europe to sample the unique offerings, but a solid core of local regulars maintains a consistent atmosphere of good cheer, conversation and welcome. The menu focuses on Ontario farmed and grown produce, with an urivalled presentation of naturally-raised or organic meats from area farmers. Breed, feed and age of every animal served is included on the menu. The wine cellar, with VQA selections from all regions of Ontario and British Columbia, serves as testament to Allen's commitment to Local Fare. In fine weather, there is no better spot in which to dine al fresco than Allen's backyard, where a dedicated chef cooks to order over charcoal a daily-changing menu of local specialties.
I first visited Allen's back in the 80's, not long after it opened, and I was instantly smitten. So much so, in fact that I moved into the neighbourhood! First I was a regular, then a nuisance, and finally a piece of furniture. I finally moved back to Markham in 1998, and cannot justify going anywhere south of Steeles Avenue without stopping into Allen's for lunch. The food is imaginative, superbly prepared, and so delicious, that even when I'm full, I often look at the menu again, just to see what I'll be ordering on my next visit! And the patio? Don't get me started...... Read more

Come savor a delectable meal at Katsura Japanese Restaurant. This establishment offers seafood and a variety of sushi for 26$ to 60$. Come enjoy their family friendly and upscale ambiance. They happily provide wheelchair-accessible restaurant and are open after-hours all week. They are readily reachable by car and public transit. The surrounding area is notable for its parks and stores.
Katsura is tucked away in a separate, but connected, building right beside the main building of the Prince Hotel. The food here is very good but only slightly better than the cheaper places in the area. The teppanyaki tables are good. The sushi is fresh. The prices are high and the portions are not particularly large. So why would someone choose this place over its cheaper competitors? It's the decor and the service that makes this place stand out. From the moment you step in out of the snow, you are surrounded by tasteful Japanese decor. In the main dining area, the place is elegant, simple and to the point. The design allows large groups to eat in semi-isolation. This is the restaurant you impress your dining partner, be it a business meeting or a first date. Read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Barrie. We've been here many times for many special occasions. We always enjoy the food and experience every time we go. Today we tried his brunch menu and it was really good as well. We had the Eggs Benny and Breakfast Poutine, along with a side of the homemade onion and apple sausages. Delicious. Now if all brunch tasted like that I'd eat brunch a lot more often. Read more
