Educating children since 1997. For convenience, we have two locations in Burnaby, one coming soon to Coquitlam. We provide care for children ages 30 months to 5 years, as well as before and after school care servicing Nelson Elementary School. We provide an integrated curriculum based on Dr. Maria Montessori’s proven philosophy and principles. Each child is guided by certified professionals in a self-directed learning environment that fosters independence, responsibility, respect for others, and a love of learning. Additionally we include; healthy snacks, weekly French classes where the children are exposed to basic French language, weekly Music classes, as well as weekly yoga classes carried out by a certified yoga instructor. Cartwheels and Crayons Childcare offers multi-age childcare. We believe that each child is unique and has the right to learn in a safe and nurturing environment that develops the whole child socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically. We believe that every child learns and develops differently and that play-based, hands-on activities help children develop many different skills by experimenting, exploring, manipulating and mastering. Our program operates around a daily schedule, a monthly theme and with a focus on physical literacy and multi-language learning.

We offer an open plan classroom with over 1,100 square feet of learning space. We also have a fenced and secured outdoor play area on site. Little Steps preschool is a fully licensed childcare facility. This means that our location, layout and curriculum meet the requirements provided by Community Care Facilities Licensing. This also means that the number of children attending the center cannot exceed set guidelines. Additionally, the center has also passed inspection by the City of Vancouver health department for a childcare facility.
