It's wonderful to be back and to see so many familiar faces, as well as lots of new ones too! Just want to remind participants of a few things as we start the new (school) year, including an update on Alison's Magical Craft Cupboard, and our Halloween Family Night. But first, some friendly reminders about important stuff! (I really have tried to be concise! Grab a snack and read on...)

HVCCHeritage Victoria Community CentreHeritage Victoria Community Centre has been a vital part of our community for more than 25 years at our present location. The goal of the centre and all those who volunteer so much of their time is to provide a safe and fun environment for all members of the community. We have various programs for all age groups from babies to seniors. One of our primary goals is to target at risk youth and to that end this past summer we offered a drop in centre for the very first time. As with anything new there were some growing pains but the program was well received by the community and many children attended. We are fortunate to have a wonderful core of volunteers at Heritage who take on the task of keeping the centre and our various programs operating. There can never be enough volunteers though and if anyone is interested in giving some time to a very worthy cause, the people of our community, you will be welcomed.Contact our friendly and accommodating staff by emailing us at hvcc@mymts.net or by phoning 204-837-9653 Monday to Friday (8:00am – 4:30pm) to sign up for programs and events, arrange a facility booking or learn more our volunteer opportunities.

The purpose was to discuss how our community might use the $500,000 in funding being made available, over the next 5 years, by the developer of the Fort Rouge Yards, for recreation and infrastructure improvements. The next step is for Councillor Gerbasi to take the suggestions to City staff for some analysis of potential cost and feasibility. Ultimately, the public service will bring recommendations forward to City Council for approval. Here is the Facilitator's report from the Workshop. The event was positive and productive.
