Cowichan Women Against Violence Society works from a feminist perspective to provide a supportive environment for victims and children who have been affected by abuse. We support diversity, change, choice and growth through counselling, advocacy, emergency shelter, community development and education The purposes of the Society are: 1. To provide emotional support and information for victims who have been sexually assaulted or physically/emotionally battered. 2. To provide temporary emergency shelter for women, who have been physically/emotionally battered or sexually assaulted, and their children. 3. To ac as a liaison between the sexually assaulted and/or battered victim, community services and the legal and medical system. 4. To be an educational force for progressive changes in attitudes, laws, institutional procedures dealing with violence against victims and children. 5.
