Pender Harbour's best known visual artist, Motoko, was born and raised in Japan, where she received her formal education. My passion for art goes back as far as I have memory, she recalls. Despite that passion, Motoko was persuaded to pursue a practical college education and became a dietician.

It's been over 20 years since Lewis & Cathy George created this successful First Nations owned and operated enterprise in Tofino B.C.Lewis & Cathy spoke with some of the local Elders and came up with the name of 'Himwitsa', which is derived from the Nuu Chah Nulth language translating as 'Story Telling and the passing of knowledge from Elder to Youth'.
