The Deaf Children's Society of BC (DCS) is a not-for-profit agency that provides resources, programs, support and information to families with deaf and hard of hearing children from birth to age five. In 1972 Mabel Dunham of Burnaby received her Bachelor of Education and Adult Education diploma at UBC; she was over sixty years of age at the time. Convinced other people her age would also be interested in furthering their education it became Mabel's mission to structure a self-help college.
