Careers The North End Women's Centre has been serving women and their families for since 1984. We are a registered non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership.Our purpose is to provide a friendly atmosphere, where women can receive the understanding, support, and resources they need to make informed choices their lives. Resources include, but are not limited to, information, referrals, counselling, outreach, employment programs, transitional housing, groups, and volunteer opportunities. These services are determined by the community through feedback from staff and participants.We have three sites:394 Selkirk Avenue - Our main building offers counselling services, groups, addictions continued recovery program, information and referral, outreach, advocacy, and a drop-in area.Chriss Tetlock Place - Located in the North End of Winnipeg, Chriss Tetlock Place is a second stage transition housing facility and home to our addictions program.382-384 Serlkirk Avenue - This building is home to the Up Shoppe, two transitional housing units, and four offices.

MTS IceplexOpened in August 2010, the MTS Iceplex is a 177,000 square foot multipurpose, state-of-the-art facility that is open year round. It consists of four rinks, each with NHL regulation size ice surfaces (200' x 85'). In addition, the facility boasts a dedicated Goalie training centre (45' x 37'), 22 player dressing rooms, high performance fitness and training facilities, a full service pro shop, licensed restaurant and lounge, concession and vending facilities as well as conference facilities.The MTS Iceplex provides between 11,000 and 13,000 hours of ice annually which serves the minor hockey community, adult recreation leagues, tournaments, summer camps and casual rentals.MTS Iceplex has been recognized as a Hockey Canada Centre of Excellence and was one of three venues that hosted the 2011 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge, a major international hockey tournament held by Hockey Canada each year.MTS Iceplex is home to the following tenant teams:Winnipeg JetsMTS Iceplex serves as the official practice and training facility of the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club.

What is Shakespeare in the Ruins (SIR) all about?Distilled to its essence, Shakespeare in the Ruins exists to promote and celebrate the unique experience of performing and attending live theatre. Seven countries in three daysBy Judianne JaymeWINNIPEG - Folklorama is the celebration of nations. It provides us the unique ability to travel within a two-week time frame, all in convenient venues within one great city! We can see beautiful costumes, learn some history, and sample favourites from that country. This year, I decided to take on a few pavilions for the first week of Folklorama. The second week is my turn to volunteer with the Pearl of the Orient Philippine Pavilion at 364 Dufferin Avenue.Nayong Pilipino PavilionI always think of how lucky we are, as a community, to be given two weeks to share our culture with Winnipeg! My highlight is definitely the hospitality of the volunteers. My family and I enjoyed the cultural dances from Kayumanggi Philippines Performing Arts.South SudanBeing a newly established country, this was my first time attending this pavilion. If I could summarize my experience in one word, it would be 'passion.' The emcee, in particular, was knowledgeable and proud of his country's history and the performances they were presenting.
