Over 30 years ago 2nd Chance opened its doors – not as an 2nd chance open house employment counselling agency, but as a rehab programme for people with addictions. In 1973 the federal government, through the Employment and Immigration Commission, provided funding to develop and implement employment programming for special needs target groups in local communities. This was 2nd Chance’s beginning in employment programming.
Burnett Career Services incorporated in 1997 when Lynda took on a contract with the Cambridge Human Resources Development Canada office to provide workshops for unemployed people in Cambridge. Before incorporation, Lynda practiced on a private, part time basis while also working on contracts with Conestoga College. For several years, she was a human resources management generalist for an international bank, during which time she was responsible for recruitment, career planning and management development, employment equity. Before assuming a career development practitioner role, she taught at Humber College for three years; courses such as: Human Resources Management, Business and Careers, Supervisory Skills. Lynda's credentials include a Bachelor's degree from the University of Guelph and certification as a Career Development Practitioner. She is qualified to administer assessment tools such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, The Strong Interest Inventory, True Colors, and other assessment instruments.
